During the week, we decided to visit
Grossglockner High Alpine Road. At least 5 motorbikes decided to go, but in the end, the weather forecast (snow in the mmountains) reduced us to only two. We started at 8 o'clock from
Lesce. To
Heiligenblut, where the road begins, we drove through
Kranjska Gora, Hermagor (Šmohor),
Kötschach-Mauthen (Koča-Muta),
Oberdrauburg and
Winklen (Kotlje). We also went over
Korenjsko sedlo or Wurzen pass (1073m). Soon we paid the entrance ticket, which was 19€ per motorbike and we continued to Kaiser-Franz-Josephs-Höhe, 2369m, where we also saw some
alpine marmots and a
Pasterze glacier. After a short walk around it started to snow a little so we went back on our motorbikes and we continued to our highest point,
Edelweiß-Spitze, 2571m. It was snowing quite a bit, and I must say it was also quite cold. We reached our goal, but due to cold weather we decided to descend to
Fusch an der Großglocknerstraße, where we filled our horses with gas. The road led us through
Bruck an der Großglocknerstraße to
Sankt Johann im Pongau, where we ate in Gasthaus Pongauerhof, owned by familie Zlatić. So our bikes were full, we also, the hour was late and we decided to move on.
Radstadt,
Obertauern (1738m),
Tamsweg,
Predlitz-Turrach, over
Turracher Höhe Pass,
Feldkirchen,
Celovec,
Borovlje to home, where we end up after 521 kilometers.
