Slovenia / Croatia: Kršiše, Krumperk Castle and Cirque du Soleil

In the morning I took Bronco to Kršiše (Garmin Connect) and then he stayed home with my parents, while I went towards Ljubljana. On the way I visited Krumperk castle, where I also picked up a geocache. After another geocache I picked up Nada and we headed to Zagreb, Croatia, where we attended Cirque du Soleil in Arena Zagreb. After the show, we spent the night in the nearby apartment.

According to Valvasor, the castle was built in the late 13th century by the noble Rabensbergs from Koprivnik. After World War II, the castle was nationalized and stripped of its furnishings. The communist authorities converted the structure into a sanatorium for wounded military officers.

Krumperk Castle (German Kreutberg) is a renaissance castle located near Gorjuša pri Domžale. It has a square floor plan with distinctive corner towers and a loft cantilever, which is one of the few preserved today.

Cirque du Soleil was founded in 1984 in Baie-Saint-Paul, Quebec, Canada, by two street performers, Guy Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix. It began as a small troupe and grew into an international phenomenon.

Unlike traditional circuses, Cirque du Soleil has a "no animal" policy. Instead, it focuses on human performances with acrobatics, dance, and live music, showcasing the human body’s potential.

Cirque's founder, Guy Laliberté, started out as a fire-breather and street performer, and he later became a billionaire. He even traveled to space in 2009 and became the first Canadian space tourist, making the journey a fittingly surreal Cirque-style adventure.
