Croatia: Cycling to Spa

Today, Nada and me decided to spend the day in the spa. Nada drove to Krapinske Toplice, while I rode there with the bike - Garmin Connect. We both relaxed there and after coming back to our weekend house, we prepared a nice barbecue.

Relaxing day.

Slovenia / Croatia: Ride to Work and Lawn Mowing

In the morning I rode to work with my Metliška Črnina - Garmin Connect. After work, Nada picked me up and we went to our weekend house in Croatia, where we will stay for a few days. The first thing we did, was that we mowed the lawn.

Slovenia: Test ride with Honda Varadero and Toyota Corolla

My friend Marko, aka Bosanc swapped the motorbike with me, so I was able to do a ride with his Honda Varadero. After work I did a detour towards Kamnik and below Krvavec and on the way I also found a few geocaches. it is a nice and solid bike, maybe a bit heavy. In the afternoon I met with Nada and we did another test, this time with a car, Toyota Corolla. We also like that one.

On the ridge above the village of Tunjice, the Baroque beauty, the pilgrimage church of St. Ana, an icon of the Slovenian Baroque, looks far and wide.

Peter Pavel Glavar (1721 - 1784) was a Carniolan Roman Catholic priest, beekeeper, writer, and businessman. In 1761–66, he erected the High-Baroque St. Anne's Church.

My ride for today.

Geocaching along the way.

Afternoon drive with 12th generation Toyota Corolla TS.

Look, no hands.

Slovenia: MTB Guide Course, 2nd Part, Day 4

Our MTB Guide course came to an end. Today we had a final exam and we had to plan a MTB trip all by ourselves. Our destination was mountain pasture Planina Stamare (Garmin Connect) and I think we all passed. The instructors were satisfied with our progress and they just wished us good luck with the final part of becoming a guide - official MTB trip, that has to be organized within 3 months. We spend great and really intense 4 days in the mountains. Good luck to all of us at the final tour.

Previous days of our MTB course: Part 2, Day 3 - 16109, Part 2, Day 2 - 16108, Part 2, Day 1 - 16107, Part 1, Day 2 - 16089, Part 1, Day 1 - 16088

Hi guys.

Participants.

We had an issue on the way back. One of our instructors broke an arm. Luckily, it was just a rehearsal.

Slovenia: MTB Guide Course, 2nd Part, Day 3

Time flies and we woke up into our 2nd half of our MTB Guide course on Valvasorjev dom mountain hut. Our schedule already became a routine and we were busy the whole day, with lectures and practical exercises.

Previous days of our MTB course: Part 2, Day 2 - 16108, Part 2, Day 1 - 16107, Part 1, Day 2 - 16089, Part 1, Day 1 - 16088

You can't go everywhere with the bike, so we also did some hiking - Garmin Connect.

Ajdna is a stony outcrop beneath Stol. The village flourished in the turbulent times of Late Antiquity, when military gangs raided the valleys on their way to Italy. The latest research explained the destruction of the small village on Ajdna, which disappeared in the flames of the invaders at the end of the 6th century. Who were the attackers? Slavic tribes who were invading towards the West? A section of the mercenary Byzantine army? A gang of thugs who looted for a living? We don’t know.

On the ridge above Ajdna.

View to upper Sava valley and Julian Alps.

Exercises with the bike.

Practicing corners.

Slovenia: MTB ride to 24th Hrast memorial

Today, the 24th Hrast memorial took place and I decided to visit it with a bicycle - Garmin Connect. Hrast memorial is a race, where drivers of motorcycles, motorcycles with sidecars, and oldtimer cars compete in a race along the well known gravel road that leads over the mountain pass of Ljubelj, with a grade of 33%. The first mountain speed races for cars and motorcycles in Slovenia took place on Ljubelj as far back as in 1926, when the development of motorization was still in early infancy. Up until 1939 there were eleven races, with a high international participation, and Ljubelj became famous as the most challenging race in Europe.
