Slovenia: Castle Grad Kamen and Saint Peter above Begunje

We are continuing with the list of hikes, that was  prepared by our local sports club ŠD Podljubelj. in the morning Nada, Bronco and me drove to Begunje na Gorenjskem and from there we started hiking towards medieval castle Grad Kamen. Since we've been there before we didn't stay long and we moved on towards the Sveti Peter church and from there we simply descended back to our starting point.

Nada, Bronco and fresh snow.

The Kamen castle was built in the 12th century by the Counts of Ortenburg. Later it was owned by the Counts of Celje, and from 1436 the Counts of Lambergh. The counts abandoned the castle in the 18th century when they moved to the more comfortable Katzenstein Mansion in the centre of the village.

Towards the church dedicated to Saint Peter / Sveti Peter. The church has a two-nave star-shaped vaulted ceiling. The interior is adorned by wonderful 16th century frescoes painted by Jernej of Loka.

Group photo and soon we were back in the village - Garmin Connect.
