Nada and me joined the CheraHiking group and their hike with via ferrata to a mountain with 2 names, Prisank or Prisojnik. We chose the hardest via ferrata available, called Kopiščarjeva route, that leads through natural window to the summit. For descend, we chose a simpler version, Slovenian route, back to Erjavčeva koča na Vršiču mountain hut.
Easy warm up hike took us to the start of the via ferrata.
Helmets on.
Via ferrata set is highly recommended here. After we put our safety gear on, we started climbing in the rock with the help of the steel ropes.
The “Pagan Girl” – a face in the cliffs. According to the legend, the mythical creature, Ajdovska deklica, prophesied to the son of a hunter that he will shoot the Goldhorn. Other heathen women got upset because of this inadmissible prophecy and turned the prophetess into a rock.
Safety first.
One of the most beautiful works of art formed by nature - the stone face of Heathen Maiden in the northern face of Prisank.
Miha and Nada.
Amazing views to the other side of the valley on the way.
Prisank Window. A window into which you could fit the Ljubljana Skyscraper.
The front window on the upper edge of the Prisank northern wall is the most well-known window in the Julian Alps and one of the largest natural orifices in Slovenia. It is around 80 m high and around 40 m wide.
View to Zadnja Trenta valley and surrounding mountains.
Prisojnik is one of the greatest mountains of Julian Alps. It is far from being the highest one, but it makes a great impact with its broadness and massiveness.
Plenty hiking options.
Useful app, but you need a mobile signal to get the data.
Nada and Tuši and foggy weather.
I was lucky, that I was on top 1 hour before the others, since the fog totally reduced the visibility.
Waiting for the others.
CheraHiking group.
We all successfully reached the summit of Prisank.
For the return, we chose Slovenska route. Much easier and safer for the descend.
