Slovenia: Birthday Hike

This year's birthday party was a bit different. I invited my family to join me on a hike over Prelaz Ljubelj and Povna peč to Vrh Ljubeljščice, which was our highest peak. We continued to Spodnji plot and Dom na Zelenici mountain hut, where we had some drinks and lunch. our trip was finished with a descent back to our starting point and then we drove home. Soon we had more food and a cake on the table and the day was slowly finished.

Quick stop for a drink at Koča na Ljubelju mountain hut, 1370 m.

Through the forest to Povna peč.

View to the neighbouring Austria.

Nada and Tuši.

With Klara and Tim we continued on the ridge that is also the border between Slovenia and Austria.

Nice and wide ridge.

Our destinations became visible.

View to the slopes of Begunjščica, 2060 m.

Out of the forest to more exposed terrain.

Quick way to cross the border.

Farm "Pamž".

Tim, Klara and Nada.

Up and down and repeat.

Dwarf mountain pine and intruders.

Tim was thankful for border stones.

Our destination was closer and closer.

Klara and Nada.

A little bit of climbing.

Enjoying in the first difficult part.

The path led us around that pile of stones.

Mountain flowers.

Left it is.

Nada took a photo of me and Tim, while I photographed Nada and Klara.

Last difficult section. No problem for us.

Back on the safe, wide grassy terrain.

Group photo on Vrh Ljubeljščice, 1704 m.

Our last peak, Spodnji Plot, 1682 m.

We left the peak and headed towards Dom na Zelenici mountain hut.
