Switzerland: Moto Trip Switzerland: Day 7 - Piz Nair, Sankt Moritz and Lej da Gravatscha

Yearly vacation started and with Nada we decided to have a motorbike trip, exploring Switzerland. Our 7th day was reserved for hiking, so our bikes could rest for the 2nd time on this trip. We parked our vehicles in Sankt Moritz, from where we ascended to Piz Nair, 3056 m high mountain in the Albula Alps. On our way back we did some sightseeing and then we returned to our bikes. We switched our gear and our next destination was a place where we would refresh ourselves. First point on the map wasn't accessible, but we had much more luck with the second one. Lake near river Inn, with a free barbecue equipment and in the end also the free shower and camping.

Previous days of our motorbike trip to Switzerland: Day 6Day 5Day 4Day3Day 2 and Day 1.

We missed our ride

Skiing in winter and producing milk in summer

We were all looking at the guys maintaining the ski lifts

Alpine marmots were once widely hunted for food and because their fat is believed to ease rheumatism when rubbed on the skin. Hunting of the alpine marmot still occurs for sport as well as for its fat.

The alpine marmot originates as an animal of Pleistocene cold steppe, exquisitely adapted to this ice-age climate. As such, alpine marmots are excellent diggers, able to penetrate soil that even a pickaxe would have difficulty with, and spend up to nine months per year in hibernation.

Enjoying the hike

O look. We could use the cable car. Too late now.

Still plenty of snow patches in the beginning of the summer

View to the valley, Lake Champfèr and Lake Silvaplana, where we spent the night

Looking from the ridge to reservoir lake Lej Alv

View from Piz Nair, 3056 m

Nearby Piz Julier, 3380 m

As always, so many new adventures on the horizon

A few days ago, our friends conquered Piz Bernina, 4049 m. Congratulations.

Piz Bernina or Pizzo Bernina is the highest mountain in the Eastern Alps, the highest point of the Bernina Range, and the highest peak in the Rhaetian Alps.

Capricorns leaving the summit

Just pretending, that we arrived with the cable car

Piz Suvretta, 3144 m and Piz Bever, 3230 m

Lake Lej Suvretta just below the Suvretta pass

This trail is also used for mountain biking. Well, we continued on foot.

Waiting to catch some action photos. Nada said: "Better luck next time."

Half way down

I wish we were here with bikes

Olympia flow trail

The leaning tower is a dating back to the 12th century. It was part of the old Church of St. Mauritius, which was destroyed in 1893. Its height is 33m and inclination 5.5 degrees. For example the inclination of the Tower of Pisa is only 3.97 degrees (it was reduced from 5.5 degrees).

Our bikes were patiently waiting for our hike to finish

We rode to Lej da Gravatscha, where we decided to finish our day

The artificial lake of Lej da Gravatscha lies near the Inn River. This Swiss lake receives flow from the Ova da Müsella and Ova da Val Champagna.

After the appetizer we decided to have a proper meal

It is easy to set the fire in the forest

Barbecue place. It will be good to switch from pasta for a day.

Cheers for another magnificent day
