Romania: Romania Road Trip: Day 2

Our Romania Road Trip continued with a morning sightseeing of the city Timișoara. Together we had a short walk to the city centre and we returned back to our van via some parks. Soon we had to move on and on our way to București, we stopped by Castelul Corvinilor (Corvin Castle) and Cascada Lotrisor (Waterfall).

Previous day of our road trip: Day 1.

Timișoara Orthodox Cathedral is dedicated to the Three Holy Hierarchs, Saints Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and John Chrysostom. It is built on an area of 1,542 m2 and has 11 towers, of which the central and the highest has a height of 90.5 meters. The cathedral was raised between 1936 and 1941 and consecrated on 6. October 1946.

We moved on towards the centre

On our way we visited Corvin Castle,  also known as Hunyadi Castle or Hunedoara Castle, a Gothic-Renaissance castle in Hunedoara and one of the largest castles in Europe.

Corvin Castle was laid out in 1446, when construction began at the orders of John Hunyadi who wanted to transform the former keep built by Charles I of Hungary.

We made another stop at the Cascada Lotrisor, where we had a break for lunch. Lotrisor Waterfall is an artificial water fall, created by man in the `50s, when the forest path was redone and the stream was diverted through a tunnel caved in rock.

Finally Bucharest and some proper local junk food.
