Bosnia and Herzegovina: Balkan Trip Day 2: Rafting, Riding from Lohovo to Konjic

Last year we had our 1st cycling tour to Bosnia and Herzegovina and since it was so good, we decided to repeat it this year.

On our second day we went rafting in the morning, followed by a motorbike ride from Lohovo through cities Bosanski Petrovac, Drvar, Bosansko Grahovo, Livno, Tomislavgrad and Jablanica to our destination Konjic, where we met other fellow cyclists. We had the following itinerary:
- Rafting on river Una, rafting route Štrbački Buk - Lohovo, the most exciting and the most attractive part of the Una River, where the whole route is driven through the National Park Una
- Tito's cave in Drvar, where Operation Rösselsprung in 1944 took place, where Germans wanted to capture or kill Marshal Josip Broz Tito.
- Blidinje Nature Park with Dugo Polje valley and Blidinje lake and many medieval tombstones called Stećak
- Jablanica and Neretva Bridge, destroyed during the Fourth enemy offensive in WW2.
- Konjic, where we met the others

Štrbački buk waterfalls, the start of the rafting

Hard work, but only a couple of meters

Water was very high, so only a few companies were brave enough to take us rafting. We had two guides, Ismar and Nedim, who learned from the best, a rafting pioneer in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Senad Zulić – Bijeli, so thumb up for Bijeli Una rafting.

Blidinje lake, the largest mountain lake in Bosnia and Herzegovina,  at an elevation of 1,185 metres. Maximal depth of the lake is only 3 metres, while average depth is around 0.5 metres.

We were riding on all types of roads

One of Stećak (medieval tombstones) sites. An estimated 60,000 are found within the borders of modern Bosnia and Herzegovina.
