Italy, Sardinia: Roccia dell'Elefante, Hot Spring, Valle de la Luna, Capo d'Orso and Nuraghe village (Trip to Sardinia Day 6)

10 years ago, Tadej and me visited Sardinia with motorbikes and this year we decided to do it again, this time with Nada and Maja.

Our last day in Sardinia came too quick, but you always have to leave something for next time. In the morning we said goodbye to our host Gui. Thanks again million times for hosting us. Our schedule for today was:
- Roccia dell'Elefante - Elephant's Rock, one of the symbols of Sardinia
- Hot Spring in Therme Casteldoria
- Valle de la Luna - Moon valley, with impressive granite rocks
- Capo d'Orso, a stone bear
- Nuraghe village

In the Bronze Age the Roccia dell'Elefante was a cult place for the Nuragic civilization (1800–750 B.C.)

Breakfast near the hot springs

In the Therme Casteldoria, hot thermal sources flow up to 70° C into the Coghinas river.

That's us. Maja and Tadej on Kawasaki Z750S and Nada with Tuši on Yamaha FZ6 S2 Fazer

Moon Valley is located on a small peninsula (Capo Testa) in the extreme north of Sardinia Island.

Since Maja and Tadej decided to stay one more day, we split up the last day. With Nada we continued to another rock formation, bear rock and to a Nuraghe village.

If you want to visit the rock, you have to pay, or you can just climb a little bit.

We came from the abandoned military barracks over those rocks

The rock has been visited since prehistoric times and was so well known to the first seafarer who approached Sardinia, that it has been identified as one of the essential points of ancient navigation in the Mediterranean.

Nuraghe La Prisgiona - The nuraghe is the main type of ancient megalithic edifice found in Sardinia, developed during the Nuragic Age between 1900 and 730 BCE. Today it has come to be the symbol of Sardinia and its distinctive culture, the Nuragic civilization. More than 7000 nuraghi have been found, though archeologists believe that originally there were not fewer than 10,000.

Goodbye Sardinia
