Slovenia: Skiing competition with ŠD Podljubelj

Our local sport society ŠD Podljubelj organized a skiing competition and again we were part of the measurement crew. That didn't help me much and I finished at 8th place.

My nephews, Matic and Tim were 1st and 3rd. Congratulations also to niece Klara, she was 4th and not to forget Nada. Great 7th place.

Slovenia: Sledding Competition in Savske Jame

Sledding was quite popular in Slovenia but lately it is losing its popularity, mostly due to green winters and also because it became almost professional sport for some people, so to be successful in a competition, you really have to have a good equipment.

This year I helped my friends with time measurements and since I had time, I also joined the competition, that was held in Savske Jame above Jesenice. The track was great, a bit icy for me.

Germany: Fair - embedded world in Nürnberg, Day 2

After a short night we went shopping for beers in Landbierparadies. Perfect shop for a man!

We continued to the fair, where we finished what we started yesterday. Every year there is more and more IoT and M2M solutions and that was our conclusion of this year's visit.

Germany: Fair - embedded world in Nürnberg, Day 1

Our company decided to approve our visit of the fair in Nürnberg, so 5 of us squeeze into a car and went there.

The fair is the leading international fair for embedded systems. Matej, Grega, Aleš, Peter and me attended it for 2 day.

Our accommodation was again Pension Florida and from there we continued to the city centre, where we had dinner with our fellow company Borea. Big 1l beers and pork legs were served for us in Bratwurst Röslein and we didn't stop there. Cheers!

Slovenia: Hike to Šentanski vrh and Evening Sledding

Nada's wish for today was to hike to Dobrča and it's highest peak Šentanski vrh, 1635 m, and I didn't argue. We hiked there from Brezje pri Tržiču and descended back over Lešanska planina and Bistriška planina.

Slovenia: Morning Sledding from Stari Ljubelj, Afternoon GeoCaching on Kamnek and Veliki vrh nad Završnikom

In the morning our family decided to go sledding from the nearby Koča na Ljubelju mountain hut, 1370 m. We all had great time, especially sledding down. Recorded track.

In the afternoon Nada and me decided to visit 2 new GeoCaches in the vicinity. We found them without any problems and on our way we conquered two nice hills, Kamnek, 873 m, and Veliki vrh nad Završnikom, 968 m.

Slovenia: Sledding with ŠKD Indijanci

Today was our second sledding  this winter with our work society ŠKD Indijanci. We attacked the same destination as previously, Koča na Ljubelju mountain hut, 1370 m. Great fun with a long afterparty.

Slovenia: The founder of Brewery Union was born

On this day, 192 years ago, the founder of Brewery Union, Peter Kozler, was born. Peter Kosler or Kozler (16 February 1824 – 16 April 1879) was a Carniolan lawyer, geographer, cartographer, activist, and manufacturer. He was of ethnic German origin, but also identified with Slovene culture and advocated the peaceful coexistence of the Slovene and German cultures in Carniola.

He is best known for creating the first map of the Slovene Lands, called Zemljovid Slovenske dežele in pokrajin (Map of Slovene Lands and Provinces). Made already from 1848 until the end of 1852, it was published only in 1861. Despite this, it had a significant impact in the time of the Slovene national awakening.

Slovenia: Sledding Valentine's Day

The weather forecast was good for the morning, so Nada and me went sledding to Stari Ljubelj. The track was awesome and we were superfast on our way down.

 

Race time - track

Nada and me spent the Valentine's afternoon in front of the TV, watching ski-jumps. Our guy, Peter Prevc was in the air almost as long as I was drinking the beer and he landed at 249 meters. In the end he could land normally and he barely managed to stay on his feet, touching the snow a little, still he won. Congratulations Pero!

Another cloudless day spent in my village. In the morning Nada and me conquered Vrh Ljubeljščice, 1704 m and after lunch we went sledding from Koča na Ljubelju mountain hut, 1370 m.

Austria: GeoCaching around Celovec

With Nada we decided to spend another day in Austria and for today we chose to find some GeoCaches in the area around Celovec.

Schloss Humberk (Hollenburg) is a medieval castle near Kotmara vas (Köttmannsdorf) in Carinthia.
