27th is a public holiday in
Slovenia and the majority, including me, use it to go to small vacation.

Day of Uprising Against Occupation |
Me and some friends decided to go to motorbike trip to the
Balkans. Our meeting point was in Ljubljana and then we rode towards
Croatia through
Ivančna Gorica,
Trebnje,
Mirna Peč,
Novo mesto and
Metlika, where we crossed the border.

In
Karlovac we had our first problem. Mrki's
Yamaha started to fall apart. He almost lost his license plate, but we fixed that in no time.

After a short break and some drinks we continued and we entered
Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bosanski Petrovac wasn't our lucky city. Klemen and Peter were involved in a small accident, but they were also lucky, since nothing terrible happened, just minor scratches on the bikes and Peter. On the other side of the city, police stopped me, and I had to pay a fine of 20KM (10 €) for not wearing the reflective vest. The initial fine was 50KM, but the policeman then reduced the fine and put the money in his own wallet. It was a typical example of
bribery.
Our final destination was
Drvar.
In
Drvar we visited Titova pećina (Tito's cave). Tito Cave in Drvar, was a sort of national shrine and popular touristic destination in Ex Yugoslavia. During the war the cave was abandoned and almost forgotten. The cave was the hideout of
Tito (Josip Broz) and partisans at the end of
World War II. During
Operation Rösselsprung (Knight's Leap) the
Germans attacked Drvar. It was one of three occasions where the Germans were close to kill Tito. However, despite the massive attack they could not catch him. That was the only one unsuccessful German air drop during the World War II.
