Austria: Traditional Easter Monday Backcountry Skiing - Ojstrc

Every year our Alpine Association AO Tržič organizes a backcountry skiing expedition. This year the number of attendees was reduced due to weather forecast, but they should all be sorry, since we chose a very good destination in Koroška, Austria. Our starting point was Hmelše and after a short walk on the road we put on the skis and continued on the wide ravine called Celovška riža - Breite Rinne all the way to the ridge of Obir massif. From there it wasn't far to our summit called Ojstrc on altitude 2139 m. After a photo session we skied back down. We finished the day with analysis in Sele Fara and later with even deeper approach in Podljubelj.

First we had to walk for a while

Soon we continued on skis

Half way up with the view to the lake Borovnica (Stausee Freibach)

Still a lot infront of us

View from the ridge

Janez and summit Ojstrc, 2139 m

Expedition this year consisted of: Janez, Miha, Tuši, Janez, Primož and Boštjan

Conditions on the top were great. At the end we were already tired and the snow was soft.

Goodbye Obir
