Austria: Traditional Easter Monday Backcountry Skiing - Ojstrc
Every year our Alpine Association AO Tržič organizes a backcountry skiing expedition. This year the number of attendees was reduced due to weather forecast, but they should all be sorry, since we chose a very good destination in Koroška, Austria. Our starting point was Hmelše and after a short walk on the road we put on the skis and continued on the wide ravine called Celovška riža - Breite Rinne all the way to the ridge of Obir massif. From there it wasn't far to our summit called Ojstrc on altitude 2139 m. After a photo session we skied back down. We finished the day with analysis in Sele Fara and later with even deeper approach in Podljubelj.
First we had to walk for a while |
Soon we continued on skis |

Slovenia: Lenuhova ravine to Begunjska Vrtača
Easter time and perfect conditions in the mountains took us to Begunjska Vrtača, 1991 m. For ascent we chose Lenuhova grapa (Lenuhova ravine), IV-/II-III, 300 m. Since there is a lot of snow in this area, it was a very easy path all the way to the top. Family lunch prevented us to continue further, so we descended on easy Zahodna grapa (West Ravine).

Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing - Hajnževo sedlo
Since there is still plenty of snow nearby, I decided to try a new skiing destination, away from the crowds on Zelenica. My destination was Hajnževo sedlo, 1701 m. On the top it was very foggy, so I missed it and I continued for a while towards Košutica, but I soon figured it out, so I descended to my designated saddle.

Soon, the fog disappeared and I could enjoy in skiing |
Ben also loved it |

Slovenia: Backcounty Skiing - Vrh Ljubeljščice
After work I conquered Vrh Ljubeljščice, 1704 m, one more time in this winter. This time the conditions were really bad but still better than staying at home and ironing the couch.

Slovenia: Jumaring in Rakov Škocjan
Our work society ŠKD Indijanci has a plan to visit one of the caves and since we will not do it as tourists, we had to learn how to properly ascend and descend in a caves. Aleš and Ana were our instructors and we all learned how to properly move up and down on a rope with the help of mechanical devices, like ascender and Petzl Stop.
I was the first to try jummaring
Aleš prepared the ropes for us before we arrived |
Great company |
We trained near The Big Natural Bridge, which is the remainder of the cave roof from the distant past, when the entire stream of the water was under the land. |
The darkness didn't stop us |

Slovenia: FIS World Cup Final in Ski Jumping Planica 2016
Our eagle, Peter Prevc, was awesome in ski-jumping this season and we decided to see him in Planica. Since tickets were sold out, our viewing point was on the slopes of nearby hill, Ciprnik. We could hear and see almost everything from there, so it was a great choice.
Our guys were perfect and we won again. Peter flew 238 and 241.5 meters, while Robi had distances of 234 and 233 meters.
Results of today's competition:

Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing - Begunjščica
Another morning adventure was scheduled today. We conquered Begunjščica via central ravine. From the top I ski down, while others descended normally.
Early in the morning, while normal people still sleep |
The sun came out |
I was the slowest on our way up |
Conquered! Attendees: Vlado, Rok, Tuši, Lovro, Gašper and Nada |
Totally different story on our way down, where I was the quickest and with a big smile on my face, since the skiing conditions were just brilliant. |
