Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing: Around Dom pod Storžičem, Kayaking: Rakov Škocjan, Lake Cerknica

Since I still had touring ski equipment from my friend Boštjan, we decided to do another tour with ŠKD Indijanci this week. Our plan was to conquer Veliki Javornik (Ženiklovec) but I guess we aimed too high, therefore we made the trip a little bit shorter, still difficult. We actually made it half way to Storžič, which may also be one of our next destination.

Navigation through the woods in the dark may be very difficult from time to time and today it definitely was.

Uroš joned us on his first ŠKD Indijanci trip

The point where we said enough. We have to go back in the valley and to work

In the afternoon I joined my friend Tadej on his kayak expedition. Since there was a lot of snow and rain lately in Slovenia, some water levels raised a lot. We decided to explore the Rak creek and nearby Lake Cerknica.

I hardly fit in the kayak

Me in kayak on creek Rak in Rakov Škocjan, oldest landscape park in Slovenia.

I had some difficulties with kayak, creek and myself.

Tadej below the Big natural bridge, which is 10 metres high and 40 metres long arch and is the remainder of the cave roof from the distant past, when the entire stream of the water was under the land.

We were done with our fist destination and before going back we decided to take a quick tour on Lake Cerknica, an intermittent lake, which when it is full, it is the largest lake in the country.

It was much easier to kayak on still water

Slovenia: Weekly Recreation: Backcountry Skiing: Triangel

Our sport and cultural society ŠKD Indijanci went on an nineteenth morning recreation (23rd overall). Our typical sport changed from hiking to backcountry skiing. Our destination was Vrh Ljubeljščice (Triangel), 1704 m. We started with skies and attached ski skins from Ljubelj past Dom na Zelenici mountain hut to our destination. Originally, in old times, these skins were made of furry seal skin. The descent was more difficult, since Vlado hasn't been on skies for 15 years and Nada "forgot" how to ski, nevertheless we came back to the valley without any significant injuries, only 2 hours behind schedule.

Slovenia: Movie Day: Magnolia and From Dusk Till Dawn

Lazy Sunday was good for movies and I watched 2.

Plot for Magnolia: An epic mosaic of interrelated characters in search of love, forgiveness, and meaning in the San Fernando Valley.
Plot for From Dusk Till Dawn: Two criminals and their hostages unknowingly seek temporary refuge in an establishment populated by vampires, with chaotic results.

Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing: Triangel

My neighbour lent me his backcountry skiing gear and I went to try it to nearby abandoned ski resort Zelenica. I should've met with Boštjan, bud he fell asleep, so I started alone. In a while he called me, so I waited for him below designated destination, in Dom na Zelenici mountain hut.
