Slovenia: From Podljubelj over Smokuški vrh to Begunje

I left my home office this Friday a little early and with Bronco we went hiking. First we arrived to Koča na planini Prevala mountain hut and then we just continued to mountain pasture Planina Planica. We still didn't have enough so we prolonged our trip over Poljška planina to a peak Smokuški vrh. From there we descended over Sankaška koča hut to Begunje na Gorenjskem - Garmin Connect, where we called Nada to pick us up. It was a great hike.

The chimney wasn't producing any smoke, so we just continued.

We had a beautiful morning and Nada, Bronco an me did a quick early hike to Prelaz Ljubelj - Garmin Connect.

Slovenia: Leaving Komna

It was our last day on Komna and it was time to clean up the hut, pack everything and leave for the valley. Since Nada and Bronco joined us yesterday, I took Bronco and we did a quick hike to nearby Difovski vrh, 1579 m and then we said goodbye to Majerca hut. The way down was long again, still we had a great time. See you on the next adventure.

Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing - Lanževica

In the morning we had a storm, so we stayed inside the hut, but as soon as we saw, that it will go away, Miha and me put on our skis and we started walking towards saddle Bogatinsko sedlo, 1803 m. The weather totally cleared up and we continued to our peak, Lanževica. After 3 hours we were admiring the view from the summit and then we returned back to our Majerca hut and on the way we did a few awesome curves.

It was still raining a little bit, when we started.

Gracija valley became familiar in the last days.

The sky cleared up.

We set our course to Lanževica.

View to Krn, a peak that we almost conquered 2 days ago.

This path will led us back.

Since nobody joined us, we were alone on the summit.

After some amazing curves, we returned back and then it was time for ćevapi and beer.

Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing - Mahavšček

On our 2nd day of backcountry skiing camp we decided to conquer Mahavšček, a 2008 m high mountain located on the north-western outskirts of the Lower Bohinj Mountains. The trip was much easier than yesterday, still we spiced it up with some trips through the mugo pine trees.

We had a great weather in the morning.

First group consisting of Tomaž, Gaja, Mark and Tuši reached the summit of Mahavšček, 2008 m.

In the evening, the hut warmed up.

Slovenia: Backcountry Skiing - Prag below Batognica

Our 4 day backcountry skiing camp with Chera Hiking began yesterday with our ascent to Komna, to a hut called Majerca and today was our first tour. Over saddle Bogatinsko sedlo we reached the Lake Krn and from there we continued to another saddle called Prag. We prolonged our trip for a few more meters, to a nice plateau below Batognica, which was our destination. After a break we skied back down to the lake, made another ascent to Bogatinsko sedlo and then we enjoyed some more skiing in the Gracija valley until we reached our home hut - Garmin Connect.

Approaching Lake Krn, the largest Slovenian high mountain lake, that lies at a height of 1391 metres.

Krnsko jezero lake is nearly 400 metres long, 150 metres wide and 17 metres deep in its deepest part.

Some of us were already tired.

Finally the saddle called Prag, 2058 m.

We reached our destination.

We returned on the same path.

Remains of the Rapallo border between Kingdom of Italy and Kingdom of Yugoslavia in the mountain valley Za Lepočami. The extensive barracks complex once numbered seven masoned structures.

 

After almost 9 hours we returned back home, where we had an evening party with some foxy ladies.
